The “Girandola” of Castel Sant’Angelo
Yesterday, June 28th, Rome had its own fireworks. This tradition was adopted for celebrating one of the Popes, in the Renaissance. Now, after 150 years of stop, the municipality of Rome decided to renew that tradition so what a good occasion to sit on the edge of the Tevere (the river of Rome), facing the high medieval walls where many Popes used to refuge in case of enemy attack, relaxing and joining the great fireworks! The occasion now is to celebrate the Roman summer that means concerts, walks, gelati, watermelons, traditional festivals and did I mention the gelati?
